  • Guatemala has one of the lowest literacy rates in Central America.

  • During the 2020 school year, due to COVID-19 and resulting economic factors, 15% of students dropped out of school.

  • The average number of years a child in Guatemala attends school is four.

We are here to

empower children

to change that.

Amor y Gracia Bilingual Christian School is an established Pre-K through 5 bilingual school with over ninety students located in Chimaltenango, Guatemala. Our mission is to unlock God-given potential through quality Christian education.

What’s going on at Amor y Gracia? Back to school!

“We believe education is the key to transforming lives in Guatemala. Most children in Guatemala receive an average of 4 years of schooling, and that is often in an overcrowded classroom where learning consists of copying from the board all day.

When children are given an opportunity to learn and thrive in a loving environment, when they are taught a second language from a young age, when they are given access to a quality education, and, most importantly, when they are taught about the love and grace of God throughout their childhood, their lives are forever changed.

That's why we're here. Over the past five years, we have grown from 3 grades and 17 students to 7 grades and over 70 students. We now have 12 staff members focused on this mission and vision.”

The Legacy Group is a tribe of monthly supporters who are committed to unlocking God-given potential through quality Christian Education.

As a member of The Legacy Group, we provide an antique key to wear as either a necklace or bracelet on the first Monday of the month. This serves as a reminder of our mission of "unlocking" God-given potential through quality Christian Education, as well as provides an opportunity to share what God is doing in Guatemala.

“Good nutrition will prevent 95% of all disease.”

-Linus Pauling

Guatemala has the highest rate of malnutrition in Latin America.

Almost half the children in Guatemala suffer from malnutrition, stunted growth, lack of energy, and various health-related side effects. Though we can’t reverse these statistics by ourselves, we will be a part of the solution. That’s why we offer a nutrition program to provide our students identified as malnourished with a fortified rice product, as well as a peanut butter based product, full of vitamins and minerals traditionally lacking in the diet of Guatemalan children.
